Online Zoom Lunchtime Lecture with Gill Russell

As part of a new series of (Scottish Artists Union) six monthly artist-led walks  supported by online talks from artists who use walking within their practice, Gill gave an online talk on Friday 10 June about her work as an artist and a will lead a walk on August 26th  near her home in Glenkindie.

In this session Gill Russell shares her interest in places of 'significance’ and how they resonate in a wider context. Gill works across a range of forms and media, including installation, audio, mapping, drawing, poems and texts. Walking is often key to her exploration.

‘Covidly Walking’, 100 walks for 100 days

The Covid Walking project arose as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting UK Lockdown imposed in March 2020. 

A hundred days of spontaneous wanderings in hill and forest…..drawing with my boots on the hill.
